THE HARMONY EXPERIENCE

Our bodies have the extraordinary ability to seek a state of homeostasis - self-healing.  It is when our heart, mind, body and soul are not aligned - because of pain, emotional or physical trauma, illness, energetic blocks, or ancestral, generational or family of origin program wounds - that our smooth, energetic homeostatic flow is interrupted, and we are unable to feel our natural, peaceful, healthy, loving energy.  It is when we "Return Home", per Thich Nhat Hanh, to ourselves, that we heal.

Our programs form a healing partnership with you to help you learn to regain your natural state of homeostasis through comprehensive, holistic modalities tailored to your individual needs.

We have a commitment to providing world-class treatment at a price the average person can afford, so you can get the frequency of treatments required to actually "get ahead of the curve" of the perpetuating factor of your pain (i.e. sitting, standing, driving, kneeling, acute stress, tech neck, shoulders).

Newsflash!  The prices below are for one session per month. With each session you add each month, we take $5 off each session. So if you have 2 $80 sessions a month, the price is now $75 per session. If you have 4 sessions a month, the price is now $65 a session. You get the drift. This is how you actually heal your muscles - with frequent, intense focus.

TRIGGER POINT MEDICAL MASSAGE FOR JOINT PAIN

Trigger Points form as a result of stress, repetitive or excessive muscle use, trauma or accident, structural imbalance and illness. We are double-certified Coaching the Body advanced trigger point practitioners who specialize in treating hand, elbow, shoulder, neck, back, hip, knee and foot pain via a combination of trigger point, deep tissue and therapeutic relaxation massage. This session is perfect for those with acute or chronic pain traceable to a physical action - the injured athlete, the tradesman with chronic joint issues, anyone who sits at a desk or drives long hours a day, pregnancy, etc.

FAQ's

WHAT IS VAGUS NERVE RESET?

The key to healing is learning to reset your nervous system resting state from one of fight-flight-fawn-freeze/reactive (sympathetic mode) to one of rest-digest-heal/contemplative (parasympathetic mode). Sound daunting? No worries, we will give you a toolbox full of skills you can implement to reset your nervous system and heal, and we are available 24/7 for coaching and support along your journey.

What is this "fight-flight-fawn-freeze/reactive (sympathetic) state? Super easy to understand! When we experience trauma, chronic or intense stress, our mind makes a split-second decision that the trauma is life-threatening stress and our body responds automatically, releasing cortisol/adrenaline and triggering an autonomic nervous system shift wherein we resort to the survival mechanisms of the sympathetic system (fast heart beat, fast breathing, jaw/shoulder/hip muscles clenched, etc). These mechanisms are deeply physical, and when the excess energy that comes with these survival responses is not fully processed, released, and the event categorized as a past memory - perhaps due to overwhelming circumstances or inadequate emotional support - the body and mind may become "stuck" in this heightened state of arousal, leading to persistent muscle tension, hyper vigilance, irritability, anxiety, anger, dissociation, chronic pain, or other symptoms (Levine, 2010).

We at HALOE are experts in "unsticking" you from this stressful nervous state.  We have proven techniques that have helped thousands of people and are validated by arduous scientific studies. We are not "reinventing the wheel" - we have created a unique, synergistic combination of these techniques to maximize their healing potentials.

So how do you begin?

IN-TAKE SESSION

Your journey begins with an in-depth intake session, when we do a comprehensive assessment of your current state of wellness, review your health history, and create your goals. This is your opportunity to ask questions and share concerns, and together we tailor your treatment which will be a combination of all or some of the following modalities, all which work to stimulate and reactive your vagus nerve. Why do you want to stimulate your your vagus nerve?

VAGUS NERVE STIMULATION

Your vagus nerve is the longest cranial nerve in your body, running from your brain, to your heart, lungs, and all the way to your large intestine. Your vagus nerve plays a part in controlling involuntary sensory and motor functions like your heart rate, speech, mood, and urine output. It helps your body switch back from your fight-flight-fawn-freeze/reactive state (sympathetic mode) to your rest-digest-heal/contemplative state (parasympathetic mode).

Sound like an important nerve? It is! But your vagus nerve can lose its ability to switch back to your parasympathetic mode due to factors like stress, trauma or age. Remaining in the opposite sympathetic mode can put you at risk for high blood pressure, heart disease, Type 2 diabetes, depression, anxiety, chronic disease, gut health issues, immunological compromise, and trigger point activation.  So how do we stimulate and strengthen the vagus nerve response to get back to our rest/digest/heal/contemplative state? By stimulating and reactivating our vagus nerve, through: trigger point release; somatic rhythmic movements and drumming: visualization/imagery; breath work; mindfulness/mindful breathing meditation; relaxation massage; essential oils; body mapping; sound healing; somatic trauma release; trigger point release; forest bathing; animal therapy; and art therapy.

TRIGGER POINT RELEASE

Evelyn is a double-certified Coaching The Body advanced trigger point release practitioner.  She began by specializing in medical massage and retains a comprehensive understanding of the systems of our body and the causes of dis-ease.  She then undertook a 2 year speciality double certification program that gave her the expertise to understand the intricate, overlapping and complicated patterns of active, latent, and referral trigger points. She specialized in treating athletes and chronic neck, shoulder, back, hip, knee and foot pain, and realized that without adjusting the cause of the dysfunction and the perpetuating factors, the pain would return.  Releasing the pain in your muscles is the easy part! Keeping it released is why we embark on the vagus nerve modalities.

SOMATIC RHYTHMIC MOVEMENTS AND DRUMMING

In this modality, we explore a series of somatic rhythmic movements and drumming to release pent-up emotions, a practice utilized by indigenous cultures for millennia.  A somatic movement is a movement that is practiced consciously with the intention of focusing on the internal experience (interoception) of the movement rather than the external appearance. These movements help us to release emotions trapped in our core and ground us in the present.

VISUALIZATION/IMAGERY

Stress is literally a mind-game.  You can consciously choose to interpret an event as a stressor that throws you into full-on adrenaline pumping, heart-racing sympathetic mode, or you can interpret it as a challenge to be dealt with or lesson learned. You have the power of choice!!! How you yourself choose to interpret your life events can profoundly influence your mental and physical health. To learn to make this choice and to reduce stress through chosen thought, we use guided meditation and visualizations to identify and question negative thoughts, interrupt negative ruminating thoughts, and replace them with positive thoughts. Practicing optimism (which we also do through our Gratitude Closing) cultivates a positive outlook, inspires hope, lessens depression, and focusing on the good aspects of situations lessens the sympathetic response, thus improving your ability to handle potentially stressful events.

BREATH WORK

We utilize Dr. Andrew Weil's 4-7-8 breath work technique, based on pranayama breathing exercises. Pranayama is the ancient yogic practice of controlling your breath. Dr. Weil refers to it as a "natural tranquilizer for the nervous system." It produces what Harvard cardiologist Drt. Herbert Benson calls the relaxation response - also known as activating the parasympathetic nervous system response we discussed above. This breath work can reduce anxiety, lower blood pressure, improve sleep, lessen pain, improve concentration, and promote healing. We begin with a series of 3 breaths and work up to 8.

MINDFULNESS/MINDFUL BREATHING MEDITATION

Mindfulness involves paying attention to the present moment without judgment, which can help you detach and reframe anxious thoughts about the past and future. We trained with the monks at Thich Nhat Hanh's Deer Park Monastery to learn how to implement mindfulness into every aspect of our lives - how we walk, breathe, eat, drink, choose to respond, smile or frown, uplift or put down others, think positively or negatively, etc.

We practice mindfulness in session by focusing on our breath, on interoception during the massage (how we feel inside, not outside, our body), and on creating stillness within our minds. Taking hold of your breath is itself mindfulness, and is a wondrous method of taking hold of your consciousness. We practice breathing to regain control of our body and mind, to practice mindfulness, and to development self-awareness, concentration and wisdom.

BODY MAPPING/BODY SCAN

By combining The Body Keeps the Score framework with The Art of Emotional Body Mapping, we are able to identify where emotional stress is being stored in your body and work directly on those areas to facilitate both physical and emotional release. Body mapping is a unique process designed to enhance your mind-body connection and awareness. It draws from Eastern and somatic healing traditions, providing a way to explore the emotional imprints within the body.  It recognizes that our emotional experiences are not just thoughts and feelings, but can manifest physically, contributing to pain, tension and dis-ease. By tuning into these connections, we work to release emotional blockages and promote a deeper sense of well-being. This process is integral to supporting our holistic approach to healing, addressing the heart, mind, body and soul in unison. The insights gained from your body map/scan will inform our future treatment plans, aligning with your evolving goals and assessments.

RELAXATION MASSAGE WITH HOT BASALT STONES

Have you ever wondered why you feel like you're floating on a cloud after a long relaxation massage? Because you just reset your nervous system!  Soothing relaxation massage is a powerful and soothing tool to reset your vagus nerve and release stored stress and trauma.  The gentle but targeted pressure applied during massage stimulates the body's parasympathetic nervous system, helping the client shift out of a state of hyperarousal (common in trauma survivors; Levine, 2010) and into a state of relaxation (Ogden and Fischer, 2015). This process of switching you from sympathetic to parasympathetic state not only helps reduce muscle tension but also lowers cortisol levels, reduces anxiety, and improves overall mental clarity (Field, 2020). It helps relieve muscle pain, tightness, increases blood flow and body temperature which helps muscles to relax, increases the flexibility of muscles, helps soft tissue injuries heal faster, reduces stress by lowering stress hormones and thus levels of anxiety, improves mood by helping to release endorphins, serotonin, dopamine, and oxytocin, and help with digestive issues, fibromyalgia, scar tissues, TMJ disorders, insomnia, and headaches - the list goes on and on! No wonder massage has been a premiere modality of healing for thousands of years!

ESSENTIAL OILS

During our session, we use a tailored blend of organic essential oils topically in a carrier oil and inhaled via aromatherapy. Essential oils have been shown to reduce blood pressure, increase relaxation, boost the immune system, promote wound healing, improve focus, memory, and cognitive function, improve digestion, treat microbial and fungal infections, act as anti-inflammatories and alleviate pain.

ENERGY AWARENESS AND BALANCING

Understanding and protecting your personal energy is key to long-term healing. Many of us have been conditioned to "give, give, give" to the point of exhaustion and have lost the attunement of knowing when our own energy supply is depleted.  Those of us who are empaths also may unknowingly take on the negative energy and trauma of those around us.  Our session involves tapping into the awareness of your personal energy reserve and providing strategies of self-care and energy preservation.

SOMATIC TRAUMA RELEASE

Our Somatic Trauma Release modality is ideal for you if you are feeling a part of your body is trapped in a state of stress due to any type of trauma, including acute or chronic physical trauma, grief, loss, anxiety, depression,and exhaustion.  We are not psychologists and this is not mental health therapy. We use methods derived from Bessel Van der Kolk's book, The Body Keeps the Score, Peter Levine's Somatic Experiencing technique, and Gabor Mate's Compassionate Inquiry technique.  This exploration process of your mind-body connection provides healing through grounding and recategorizing stress as a past instead of present event.

SOUND HEALING

We practice the ancient Tibetan modality utilizing Tibetan singing bowls as taught by Suren Shrestha. Everyone has a vibration that is a signature of their health and well-being. Similar to a musical instrument that can fall out of tune through use, our bodies can fall out of vibrational harmony and potentially into illness. Stress and negativity create blockages of a healthy flow of energy, showing up in the energy field around our body as lower energy disturbances first, and later as illnesses in our body.  Sound and vibration (think running water) can be used to re-tune us to health and one of the most powerful modalities for this is the use of Tibetan singing bowls, a practice that goes back thousands of years. When there is a deep relaxation through soothing resonant sound, the body is affected on a cellular level, activating the parasympathetic nervous system mode and moving us back toward vibrational alignment with health. Sound can help us shift our energy frequency from lower to higher (scary horror film music to happy soothing music), removing the lower frequencies of emotions such as fear, anger, and resentment.  Healing through sound and vibration has been known to reduce stress, improve concentration, reduce blood pressure, stimulate energy flow in the body, improve immunity, heighten intuition and perception, synchronize the brain hemispheres, remove mental and emotional negativity, and enhance creativity. Most importantly, it profoundly reduces stress.  As much as 70 percent of the human body is made up of water, so when you strike a singing bowl next to or on your body, the vibration makes a mandala (pattern) in your body, which is healing and relaxing. (Suren Shrethsa, 2018).

FOREST BATHING

Forest bathing, also known as shinrin-yoku, is the practice of spending time in nature being mindful and using your senses to connect with nature and ground yourself. It can reduce stress, improve mood, help improve focus and mental clarity, and may increase immune function. HALOE has a 1/4 acre meditation garden which we open for individual and group forest bathing sessions.

ANIMAL THERAPY

Interaction with therapy animals has been correlated with decreased perceptions of pain, improved recovery rates, decreased anxiety and stress, less fear and worry, improved biobehavioral markers of stress, increase perceptions of social support, support people during times of crisis, assist professionals in providing trauma recovery, and alleviate symptoms of depression. (Pet Partners, 2024)

HALOE began, and continues, as a farm animal sanctuary for neglected, abused, and abandoned farm animals. Over the past 15 years, the beloved pigs, goats, cows, sheep, alpacas, horses, potbellies, dogs, cats, and birds have provided comfort and unconditional love to hundreds of people. We open our farm sanctuary for individual and group animal therapy sessions.

CREATIVE ART THERAPY

HALOE offers art exercises for self-care, mindfulness and growth, based on the works of Carolyn Mehlomakulu.

Whether you’re a partner, friend, sister, or mother of any kind (to humans, animals, plants, organizations), life can be very rewarding, but it can also be exhausting and energetically draining. Self-care is about replenishing our personal pitcher of life energy so that it is overflowing and we can share the abundance with others. Self-care is a win-win: it heals us and allows us to help others to heal. Without it our constant giving can lead to burnout and compassion fatigue.

Connecting with your divinely inspired (have you ever thought where you creativity comes from?) creativity through making art is one way that you can renew your life spark, curiosity, and explore and release your feelings. Putting our feelings and thoughts on papers frees our mind and makes space for us to grow.

You don’t have to think of yourself as being an artist! In fact, that has nothing to do with this! This is rediscovering the simple joy of creating, like you felt as a young child smooshing around a rainbow of finger paints on slippery finger paint paper. Approach this artwork with a mindset of playfulness and non-judgmental acceptance. These art exercises are intended to be for your personal expression, not created to be displayed for others to see - unless of course that gives you joy! This session is about the joy of creating - and regaining the freedom to choose - the colors, the shapes, the mood, the feeling - are all uniquely yours to choose. Each activity is designed to help you heal a part of your mind.  We use a variety of media - finger paints, colored pencils, crayons, clay, and crafts.

GRATITUDE PRACTICE

We end the treatment session with our Gratitude Practice. Practicing gratitude has numerous physical and mental health benefits:

  *It reduces stress and anxiety by shifting focus away from negative thoughts and towards positive aspects of life, making it easier to cope with challenges;

  *It increases the release of serotonin and dopamine and improves mood;

  *It reduces depression by promoting positive emotions and reducing and redirecting rumination;

  *It can improve sleep quality by reducing racing thoughts and promoting relaxation:

  *It helps to lower levels of inflammation which is linked to various health issues.

  *It may boost the immune system by reducing stress;

  *It can boost self-esteem, self-worth and confidence;

  *It can improve relationships;

  *It can improve focus and motivation

  *It can reduce materialism, shifting focus from possessions to experiences and relationships
